Love Soup are dedicated to providing free meals to people who are hungry or in need across New Zealand but it is a constant struggle to find businesses that are willing to help. Now the local Domino’s has signed up to help them feed those in need across Tokoroa each and every week.

“We are so grateful that Domino’s Tokoroa has jumped on board to help us with our important work,” says Jimmy Boswell, Manager of Love Soup in Tokoroa.

“This year has seen a dramatic increase in the number of people who use our services. The support of organisations like Domino’s is vital in being able to support those in our community who need us the most.

Domino’s Tokoroa is well known for their community work. The team regularly provide free pizza to frontline workers and those in need through their Feed the Knead programme. Feed the Knead is designed to provide a hot free meal to those in need and is championed by each local store owner.

This year alone the team at Domino’s Tokoroa fed frontline workers and those over 70 just as COVID was hitting its peak, and then again when the store could re-open at Alert Level 3.

“This year has been a stressful time for everyone, but we know some have been affected more than others and many people are struggling to put food on the table,” says Dan Patel, local store owner of Domino’s Tokoroa.

“The least we can do is support this vulnerable part of our community by sharing the joy of pizza and hopefully make their day a little brighter. By teaming up with Love Soup we know our donation gets to where it is needed most.”

Domino’s Tokoroa also runs a Doughraiser programme, where $1 is donated from each pizza sold during a specific period. So far, they have raised money for both Amisfield School and St Marks Pre-School and are looking forward to supporting more organisations in 2021.
