Local Domino’s franchisee recognised for his Big Heart

April 2019

Local Wellington franchisee Rishi Sharma and his team at Domino’s Upper Hutt have been recognised for their support of their local community at the Domino’s Rally, the Company’s annual conference.

Domino’s Hunter MacKenzie Big Heart, Big Fun award is given to the franchisee and store who go out of their way to support their community and delight their customers. The award is highly sought-after within Domino’s; with only one given across its 800 plus stores in Australia and New Zealand each year.

Domino’s New Zealand General Manager Cameron Toomey said that Rishi and his teams’ dedication to their community and passion for excellent customer service is the key to their success.

“Rishi truly exemplifies Domino’s philosophy of giving back. His drive and dedication is evident through the many doughraisers he and his teams run to help their local schools, community groups and families,” Mr Toomey said.

“In the last year Rishi and his team have raised funds for several families who were trying to cope with a terminally sick child, or a child with learning disabilities, and ran dough raisers for many of their local schools. They deliver hot, fresh pizza’s and drinks to the Hutt Hospital every Saturday night to support the amazing work that they do and have just started working with the Red Cross to give work to Refugees.

“Rishi is always looking for ways that he can help and is an enthusiastic supporter of our national Doughraiser for Youthline, where $1 from every pizza sold is given to support this important service.”

Rishi began his career at Domino’s when he purchased his first store in Auckland’s Birkenhead. When the opportunity came to purchase a store and move to Wellington he jumped at the chance. He now owns three stores in the Wellington area (Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt, Stokes Valley) employing over 70 staff.

Rishi also received the prestigious Domino’s Leadership Eagle Award which is given to franchisees who represent the best of the best, with outstanding leadership and operational success. The award is highly sought-after within Domino’s; with only a handful given across its 800 plus stores in Australia and New Zealand each year.

Rishi said he and his team were pleased to receive the award however, every day was a new beginning in the business.

“I feel pleased, honoured and proud that the work we are doing has been recognised as good enough for an award, and we will continue to do our best, making a positive impact in our community,” he said.
